Zelensky decorated participants of the SBU operation “Web” 01.06.2026 18:32 Ukrinform President Volodymyr Zelensky honored with state awards employees of the Security Service of Ukraine involved in the special operation “Web”.
As Ukrinform reports, Zelensky announced this on Facebook.
“Today, I honored with state awards of Ukraine people without whom the ‘Web’ would not have happened. We are not allowed to name them – everything is still completely secret and will be for a long time. This is already a historic operation of the Security Service of Ukraine, which was meticulously prepared, and exactly on this day a year ago, it entered its final stage, namely, striking Russian military equipment. As far as Ukrainian long-range capabilities have not yet reached. As accurately as no one in Russia expected. And as deservedly as the enemy’s strategic aviation deserves,” Zelensky noted.
He recalled that “Web” destroyed or at least damaged 41 aircraft. Russia had never before lost such equipment, in such quantities, and through strikes by such incomparably cheaper drones.
“Ukraine has once again proven that it knows how to act asymmetrically, defends itself actively and truly creatively, and that Russia has no chance of overcoming Ukrainian bravery. Ukraine will always be one step ahead – in technological advancement, in courage, and in the ability to attract the world’s attention and gain the support of millions of human hearts,” emphasized the Head of State.
According to him, “Ukraine is now literally daily applying long-range sanctions against Russia for this war.”
“We did not start the war, we did not provoke it, and the only thing we wanted for Ukraine and Ukrainians was peace. But as long as Russians choose the opposite and as long as Russia does everything to prolong this war and expand it, Ukrainians will continue to find such responses that will definitely work. Thank you to all our warriors for your accuracy! Thank you to the SBU for your long-range leadership! Thank you to everyone who helps us! Glory to Ukraine,” Zelensky stressed.
As Ukrinform reported, in 2025, the SBU conducted dozens of unique special operations, among which the most famous is “Web”.
“Web” is the most successful SBU special operation, during which 41 Russian combat aircraft, including A-50, Tu-95, Tu-22M3, and Tu-160, were simultaneously struck at four airfields deep in the rear. In one day, 34% of Russia’s entire strategic aviation was disabled, and the estimated value of the enemy’s losses amounted to over $7 billion.
The special operation was personally developed and coordinated by Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk, and the direct attack was carried out by drone operators of the SBU’s “Alpha” unit.
