The former “Minister of Energy” of occupied Crimea, Serhii Kolobov, was detained in Kyiv. The 65-year-old former official, who defected to Russia in 2014, arrived in the capital of Ukraine on personal matters. This was reported by the SBU, the prosecutor’s office, and UP, citing sources. Kolobov has already been arrested on charges of treason, with no right to bail.

Serhii Kolobov served as the Minister of Energy of Crimea from 2012 and continued to work in this “position” despite the occupation of the peninsula by Russia in 2014. According to the SBU, he obtained Russian citizenship almost immediately after the annexation.

– After “leaving” the occupation government, the figure continued to work in the interests of the Kremlin regime, heading a number of local companies in the extractive industry, – the Security Service of Ukraine stated.

During searches at the man’s place of residence in Kyiv, where he settled in 2026, Russian passports, Russian bank cards, and documents with evidence of working for Russia were found. He faces up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Serhii Kolobov was born in Russia, but received his higher education in Ukraine in the 90s and 2000s. In particular, he graduated from the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine. According to open data, he was the “Minister of Energy” of occupied Crimea until June 2014, and then held a leadership position at the “Crimean Soda Plant” and was the director of the company “Bilohirski Vapniaky”.
